(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
