Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
