'Aad denied the messengers 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
