The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
