'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
