(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
