The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
