The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
