The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 In gardens and springs. 147 and cornfields, and palm-trees laden with fruit -- 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 And obey not the command of the extravagant. 151 those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right." 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 Thou art but a human being like unto us. So bring thou a sign if thou art of the truth-tellers. 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful day. 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
