Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
