The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
