The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
