The companions of the thicket denied the messengers 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 Fear He who created you, and the generations of the ancient' 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 In response they denied him therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
