And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
