Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, full of wisdom, 2 A guidance and mercy for the righteous 3 Those who establish worship and pay the poor-due and have sure faith in the Hereafter. 4 These are on (true) guidance from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. 5 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). 6 And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. 7 Surely for those who believe and do the right are pleasure gardens. 8 wherein they will live forever. It is the true promise of God. He is Majestic and All-wise. 9 He created the heavens without any supports visible to you, and cast mountains as anchors into the earth so that it may not shake with you, and spread all kinds of beasts in it; and We sent down water from the sky so thereby grew all kinds of refined pairs in it. 10 This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. 11
