And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 and [how] We make gardens of date-palms and vines [grow] thereon, and cause springs to gush [forth] within it, 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. 39 Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day. All glide along, each in its own orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 and so [sudden will be their end that] no testament will they be able to make, - nor to their own people will they return! 50
