۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 What then, shall we not die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
