So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 They used to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
