Hizb 46

Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 So they accepted faith We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 that it is certainly they who will be helped; 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
