S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 "Has he made the gods (all) into one Allah? Truly this is a wonderful thing!" 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
