۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth. 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 Let not Satan misdirect you. He is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. 63 Verily God is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is the straight path." 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
