Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
