Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
