The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
