The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and the sea that is full 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
