The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 The roof raised high, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
