The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
