Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Let them bring a discourse like thereunto, if they say sooth. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Hath He daughters and ye sons? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
