The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
