The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then came down close 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
