Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
