Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
