The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
