And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 In response they called their companion he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
