The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
