Thamud denied the warning 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 So now taste My punishment and My commination! 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
