The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
