The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
