The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
