The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 has created man, 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
