The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
