The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
