The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
