The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
