The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
