The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We!
