The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
