The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
