The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
