▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
